About Grassi

Priscilla Grassi Freire holds the position of TUNRA Staff at TUNRA Bulk Solids, University of Newcastle. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Newcastle in 2021. Her doctoral thesis, titled 'Investigation into the Effects of Material Variability in the Performance of Bulk Solids Handling Systems,' examines how variations in bulk material properties influence the performance and reliability of handling systems, including transfer chutes and feeders. The research was conducted under supervision from faculty members such as Mark Jones.

Prior to completing her PhD, Priscilla Grassi Freire was a research student at the University of Newcastle. She contributed to a Small Research Consultancy project funded by Vale S.A. in 2018, collaborating with Professor Kenneth Williams and Dr Jayne O'Shea. She is a co-author on the publication 'A Stochastic Framework for Predicting Transfer Chute Blockages Based on Materials Properties' with K. Williams, J. O'Shea, and O.
