Advanced Practice Provider (APP)/(PA/NP/APRN)/Medicine/Medical Oncology/Instructor of Clinical Practice
Job Summary
Applications are sought for a 1.0 FTE full-time faculty clinical position with benefits Instructor of Clinical Practice/NP or PA, at UCHealth Anschutz in the Thoracic Oncology clinic. Candidates should have a strong professional background in Oncology and/or Hematology. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position is responsible for identifying, assessing, planning and coordinating services for oncology and hematology patients. The APP will be an active participant in clinical work seeing patients daily in Oncology clinics, as well as overseeing an anti-cancer intravenous infusion area. The APP will provide in-office and virtual/telephone support for patients and their families. As part of this position, additional training as needed in active symptom management, palliative care, and clinical trials conduct will be provided. A 1.0 FTE position includes 40 hours per work week. Hours may be distributed based on clinic needs as volumes grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages the health care of patients at Anschutz.
- Performs a comprehensive health assessment, including health history, physical exams, preventive screening; identifies medical health risks and needs.
- Performs scheduled study-related visits, study screenings, and toxicity assessments of patients on phase I-III clinical trials.
- Formulates the appropriate differential diagnoses based on clinical evaluation.
- Orders and/or interprets diagnostic studies within scope of practice and clinical area of practice.
- Performs advanced technical procedures within the scope of clinical practice for these programs as well as other programs requesting procedures according to schedule.
- Plans and implements therapeutic regimens that include both nursing and medical management strategies, including prescription of medications and devices.
- Establishes systematic follow-up for evaluation of the plan of care and reassesses and modifies the plan, as necessary, including initiation of referrals and consultation with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
- Closes charts within seven working days, not regarding extenuating circumstances.
- Assures patient and family teaching is adequate to manage the illness or wellness plan at home.
- Facilitates patient participation and promotes engagement by providing information needed to make decisions and choices.
- Facilitates appropriate utilization of the medical system in a cost-effective manner without jeopardizing quality of care and service. May be involved in management of critical pathway and case management across the continuum of care as indicated.
- Assists others as necessary, using time constructively. Participates as a team member in providing health care interacting with colleagues to provide comprehensive care as a responsible professional.
- Documents in the medical record according to policy/procedure. Maintains accurate, legible, and confidential records. Complies with incident reporting and notification requirements.
- Apply organizational policies, regulations, and procedures in the administration of patient care.
- Intermittent holiday, evening and weekend coverage of infusion center/urgent care/outpatient clinics and inpatients may be needed.
