Job Description:
Bellarmine University has an immediate opening for an Assistant Track & Field Coach. This position will assist the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country with all phases of a NCAA Division I Track & Field and Cross Country program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the athletic, academic, and personal development of student-athletes and possess excellent organizational, recruiting, and communication skills.
The Assistant Track & Field Coach will serve as the lead coach for the hurdles, jumps, and multi-events event groups, with primary responsibility for the training, development, competition preparation, and recruitment of student-athletes within those disciplines.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a recruiting strategy consistent with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules designed to identify and recruit student-athletes who possess the academic and athletic abilities necessary to be successful at Bellarmine University and compete within the ASUN Conference and at the national level.
- Recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes through daily recruiting efforts, talent evaluation, roster management, communication with prospects and coaches, coordination of campus visits, and all aspects of the recruiting process.
- Plan and implement event-specific training programs for the hurdles, jumps, and multi-events designed to maximize individual and team performance at the NCAA Division I level.
- Assist in planning and coordinating in-season and out-of-season training, practices, strength and conditioning integration, competition schedules, and athlete development programs.
- Provide technical instruction and event-specific coaching for student-athletes in the hurdles, jumps, and multi-events while fostering a positive and competitive training environment.
- Assist with competition preparation, including meet entries, travel coordination, event management, and competition planning.
- Monitor the academic progress and overall well-being of student-athletes. Effectively communicate with Athletics Academic Support staff to ensure academic concerns are addressed and student-athletes are progressing toward degree completion.
- Assist with the administration and daily operations of the Track & Field and Cross Country program, including equipment management, budget oversight, compliance documentation, and other program responsibilities as assigned.
- Participate in fundraising activities, camps, clinics, community engagement initiatives, and departmental events that support the mission of Bellarmine Athletics.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, accountability, and competitive excellence while working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.
- Abide by and comply with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), ASUN Conference, and Bellarmine University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Collegiate coaching experience in track & field, with demonstrated expertise in hurdles, jumps, and/or multi-events preferred
- Strong recruiting experience and the ability to identify, evaluate, and attract high-achieving student-athletes
- Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Commitment to fostering the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
