Assistant Professor of Spanish

Position Summary

The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately; position will remain open until filled. Start date is January 2027. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• 4/4 teaching load, scholarship, and service.
• Teaching load will include 1000- and 2000-level foundational Spanish courses in addition to a variety of upper-division courses. Courses may be offered in-person, hybrid, or online.
• Serve the institution and remain active in the profession by maintaining a consistent record of scholarly research that includes publications and presentations in peer-reviewed venues
• Mentorship of student research
• Regular and predictable attendance required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

• Ph.D in Spanish required (ABD considered)
• Second language acquisition
• Expertise in, but not limited to, one or more of the following fields: Latin American literature, translation/interpretation, Latin American culture and civilization.
• Experience in linguistics and/or study abroad programs is a plus
