Open Rank (WOT) – Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (Critical Care)
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor without tenure due to funding (WOT), with an anticipated start date of January 2027. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community.
The appointment would align with a 12-month service period (July1–June 30), where faculty are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period, meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments; Associate Professors and Professors hold indefinite appointments.
The base salary range for this position at the following ranks will be: Assistant Professor ($22,000–$24,250 per month), Associate Professor ($24,250–$29,250 per month), Professor ($29,250–$33,500 per month), commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
The successful candidate will engage in scholarship, teaching, and service, and will be expected to conduct funded critical care research such as the design and execution of interventional ICU trials, ICU clinical outcomes research, or large-scale data analysis/application of machine learning to critical care. Clinical work will be primarily inpatient and focus on critical care. Teaching activities will include attending on clinical service and mentoring trainees.
