Post-Doctoral Associate - Quantitative Imaging & Human Retroviruses
About the Job
A postdoctoral researcher is sought to join an interdisciplinary research team (Profs. Louis Mansky, Joachim Mueller and Wei Zhang) using cryoelectron microscopy/tomography (cryo-EM/ET) and quantitative fluorescence imaging technologies (e.g., TIRF, PALM, FCS) to ongoing studies of human retrovirus (HIV & HTLV) particle assembly.
Successful recruits will possess a terminal doctorate (ideally PhD degree) with strong experience in biomedical and/or physical sciences and will be expected to acquire extensive training in either cryo-EM/ET or quantitative fluorescence imaging. They will join a strongly interactive, collaborative and collegial research environment. Minneapolis is a dynamic and progressive city with outstanding cultural attractions and a high standard of living.
The Institute for Molecular Virology (IMV) serves as the nexus for the virology research community at the University of Minnesota and provides an outstanding research environment for postdoctoral study.
A robust career development program will be individually crafted for each postdoctoral researcher, which will emphasize not only research excellence, but also acquiring excellence in other skill sets to enhance successful job placement following the completion of their postdoctoral studies. An Individualized Development Plan (IDP) will be utilized to help chart progress, celebrate achievements, and address deficiencies.
