Work Hours: Standard College hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Additional hours, including evening and weekend hours, may be needed to meet the needs of the department.
General Summary: Provide accommodations and support for students with disabilities.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required in related field (Education, Social Work, Counseling, Disability Studies).
- Prior experience working with students requiring special accommodations in a college setting is preferred.
- Broad knowledge and understanding of ADA 504 policies, some experience with assistive or adaptive technology.
- Ability to understand how learning can be affected by disabilities and provide appropriate accommodations. Ability to work with students of all abilities.
- Computer experience and knowledge.
- Good customer service, communication, writing, reading and organization skills.
Duties:
- Assist with exam proctoring for students whose accommodations necessitate examinations occurring within the Disability Resources and Services Office. This includes providing proctoring services, overseeing the scheduling of exam and coordinating with the Proctoring Coordinator & Disability Resources and Services administrators.
- Provide one on one care and coaching for students with disabilities. Assist with intake services and development of individual student plans.
- Provide technical support for adaptive services such as alternative format textbooks, alternate format/modified testing and software.
- Assist students with improving and maintaining academic performance by conducting one on one training and facilitated study skills sessions.
- Recommends, requests and obtains resources, materials and technology necessary for students.
- Develop and implement emergency evacuation plans for students.
- Assist with Enrollment Management activities including registration campaigns, open house events and other initiatives to recruit and retain students.
- Respond to FSAs and other alerts for students who are experiencing difficulty in the classroom.
- Assist with requests for accommodation letters or other student needs.
- Perform other duties as required or as assigned.
