About Adam

Dr Adam Barnett is a Senior Research Scientist at James Cook University. His research interests include the ecology and conservation of chondrichthyans (sharks, batoids and chimaeras), teleosts and sea turtles. He holds a PhD on sevengill shark ecology. Barnett previously served as Lecturer in the Master of Marine Science program at James Cook University from 2013 to 2024. He is also affiliated with the Biopixel Oceans Foundation as Principal Scientist and Manager, and has directed the Fish and Fisheries Lab at the university.

Barnett’s work focuses on marine ecology topics including predator-prey interactions, population dynamics, spatial ecology, migration, movement behaviour, habitat use and fisheries ecology. He has contributed to numerous research projects and publications in these areas through his roles at James Cook University and related initiatives.
