About Adriana

Adriana Schulz is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Brown University. She earned her BSc in Electronics Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2008, her MSc in Mathematics from the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics in 2011, and her PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2018. Prior to joining Brown in 2025, she served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington.

Schulz’s research focuses on developing computational tools and systems that transform manufacturing-oriented design. Her work integrates geometry processing, machine learning, and programming languages to create design tools that support both creative exploration and functional optimization in fabrication. She has received a Sloan Research Fellowship, an NSF CAREER Award, the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 award, the Anita Borg Early Career Award, and the ACM SIGGRAPH Significant New Researcher Award. Schulz is a member of the Brown Visual Computing group and chairs WiGRAPH, the ACM SIGGRAPH Community Group for Women in Computer Graphics Research.
