Adriano Gonçalves dos Reis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Instituto de Ciência e Tecnologia (ICT) of Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) on the São José dos Campos campus. He also serves as a permanent faculty member in the Postgraduate Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Faculdade de Engenharia de Bauru (FEB/UNESP), where he supervises master’s and doctoral students. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Faculdade de Engenharia Química de Lorena (EEL/USP) in 1999, a master’s degree in 2012 and a doctorate in 2015 in Sciences from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (IPEN) from 2015 to 2017. In 2023 he was a Visiting Fellow at the School of Engineering of the University of Birmingham, and in 2024 he obtained his livre-docência in Unit Operations Applied to Sanitation from ICT/UNESP.
His research focuses on unit operations applied to sanitation, particularly the development of natural coagulants and low-cost adsorbents for the treatment of water supply and wastewater, with emphasis on coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, flotation, filtration, and adsorption processes. He coordinates the sanitation and hydraulics laboratory at ICT/UNESP, leads the CNPq research group on Unit Operations Applied to Sanitation, and is a member of the Scientific Committee of PROPe/UNESP.
