Professor Ahmed Ali Al Raisi serves as Vice Chancellor and Professor of Hydrogeology at United Arab Emirates University. With more than two decades of academic experience, he has contributed significantly to higher education leadership, teaching, and graduate student mentorship. He previously held senior positions including Associate Provost of Research, Chair of the Geology Department, Vice Dean and Dean of the College of Science, Acting Dean of the College of Education, and Acting Vice Chancellor.
Prof. Al Raisi earned his Ph.D. in Hydrogeology from Western Michigan University in the United States. His research focuses on hydrogeology, water resources, isotope hydrology, and sustainable water management. He has authored over 70 publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and delivered more than 100 presentations at national and international conferences. Beyond academia, he is a founding member of the UAE Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme National Committee and serves on the board of the UAE Water Aid Foundation. He has participated in the Permanent Consultation Mechanism of the Groundwater Governance Project, the Emirates Scientists Council, and the National Committee on Combating Desertification. Appointed by UNESCO to the Advisory Board for Open Science, he also led UAEU initiatives at COP28, advancing sustainability and scientific collaboration nationally and globally.
