Professor Aimee Spector is Professor of Clinical Psychology of Ageing in the Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology at University College London. She originally developed Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) for dementia as part of her PhD thesis completed between 1999 and 2001 at UCL. She serves as Director of the International Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) Centre at UCL, where she has trained over 2000 people in CST and supports its implementation across 42 countries through training centres in Europe, Asia, the US, New Zealand and Australia. She also directs the UCL Menopause Mind Lab, focusing on the impact of the menopause transition on cognition and mental health, and leads the UCL Dementia Training Academy. In addition, she acts as international lead for University College London’s Clinical Psychology doctorate course.
Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions for dementia and related areas in global health contexts. She has published over 190 peer-reviewed papers, along with multiple books and book chapters. Spector continues to supervise research on CST and other interventions such as cognitive behaviour therapy for people with dementia and their caregivers.
