About Akshay

Professor Akshay Rathore is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He serves as Area Director for Power and Energy Systems. He received his PhD degree in Power Electronics from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, in 2008, along with MTech and BE degrees. Prior to his current role at NUS, he held positions including associate professor at Concordia University in Canada. Rathore is an IEEE Fellow and has received multiple honors, including the 2013 IEEE IAS Andrew W. Smith Outstanding Young Member Achievement Award, the 2014 Isao Takahashi Power Electronics Award, the 2017 IEEE IES David Irwin Early Career Award, the 2020 IEEE Bimal Bose Award for Industrial Electronics, the 2020 IEEE IAS CMD Outstanding Area Chair Award, and the 2021 Nagamori Award. His research focuses on power electronics and electric motor drives, with interests in renewables and transportation electrification. He has contributed to numerous publications and four book chapters. Rathore has held leadership roles in IEEE societies and committees, including appointments to the IEEE Fellow Committee.

He maintains an active presence in academic and professional communities through lectures, editorial contributions, and committee service. His work has influenced advancements in power electronics applications for energy systems and electric drives.
