Dr. Alec Couros serves as Professor of Educational Technology and Media in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. He earned a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education with an English major and History minor from the University of Saskatchewan in 1993, a Master of Education in Curriculum focusing on Educational Communications and Technology from the University of Saskatchewan in 2001, and a PhD in Education (Curriculum) from the University of Regina in 2006. His doctoral dissertation examined the open movement and its implications for education.
Dr. Couros’s academic interests center on educational technology, social media, technology integration in education, and networks. He previously held the role of founding Director of the Centre for Educational Research, Collaboration and Development at the University of Regina and later served as Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning, where he supported faculty development and pedagogical innovation. He has received the University of Regina Award for Innovation in Teaching in recognition of his excellence in teaching practices and educational leadership. Dr. Couros maintains an active presence as a researcher and contributor in the field of educational technology.
