Rate My Professor Ali Trabolsi

Ali Trabolsi is Program Head of Chemistry and Professor of Chemistry at NYU Abu Dhabi, with a Global Network Professor of Chemistry appointment in the Faculty of Arts and Science at New York University. He holds a BSc from Lebanese University and MS and PhD degrees from the University of Strasbourg. During his doctoral studies, he investigated supramolecular systems based on porphyrins, fullerenes, and oligo-phenylene vinylene. He subsequently served as a research scholar in Sir Fraser Stoddart’s group at UCLA and Northwestern University, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of mechanically interlocked molecules. In 2009, he joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology as a research scientist at the membrane center before moving to NYU Abu Dhabi.

Trabolsi’s research centers on the design and development of smart materials addressing challenges in healthcare and environmental sustainability. His group works on supramolecular multifunctional systems, including drug delivery platforms, pollutant-capturing materials, atmospheric water harvesters, and molecular knots and links. Research areas include materials for health and environment, with affiliations to the NYUAD Water Research Center. He teaches courses in chemistry at NYU Abu Dhabi.
