Amine Bahi served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University, from 2011. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, awarded in 2005, and an MSc from the University of Paris XI, France, awarded in 2000. His academic career also includes postdoctoral training in neuroscience at Yale University School of Medicine and other positions at institutions including the University of Regensburg and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Dr. Bahi’s research centers on the molecular mechanisms of microRNA-target interactions and their roles in brain development and psychiatric disorders such as addiction, depression, and anxiety. He utilizes viral-mediated gene transfer technologies, molecular biology techniques, and rodent behavioral models to investigate neuronal circuits regulating affective behaviors. His work has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications on topics including the effects of gene modulation on ethanol consumption, stress-related behaviors, and neurotransmitter systems.
