About Amit

Dr. Amit Shankar serves as Associate Professor in the area of Marketing at the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam, where he also holds the position of Dean (Research). He earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from the Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur. Prior to joining IIM Visakhapatnam, he was associated with IMT Ghaziabad as Assistant Professor. Dr. Shankar possesses several years of academic experience at renowned institutions. His research focuses on areas such as mobile banking service quality, consumer engagement with digital applications, webrooming and showrooming behaviors, gamification, and factors influencing technology adoption in marketing contexts. He has published numerous articles in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Business Research (2022), Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services (2021 and 2020), Journal of Global Information Management (2021), International Journal of Bank Marketing (2019 and 2021), and Australasian Marketing Journal (2021 and 2020). Additional publications appear in the Journal of Strategic Marketing, Journal of Promotion Management, The TQM Journal, and Services Marketing Quarterly, spanning from 2016 to 2022. Dr. Shankar has taught courses including Sales and Distribution Management, Marketing Analytics, Business Research Methods, Customer Experience Management, Digital Marketing, and Social Media Marketing. He has organized faculty development programs and management development programs on business analytics, SPSS, AMOS, SmartPLS, and consumer satisfaction. He has also conducted workshops on marketing analytics tools at premier institutes across India and presented at conferences such as the AMA Winter Academic Conference and Pan IIM Conference.
