Professor Amon Taruvinga is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Agribusiness within the Faculty of Science and Agriculture at the University of Fort Hare. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in agricultural economics from the University of Zimbabwe and a PhD from the University of Fort Hare. His research focuses on agriculture and environmental economics, including topics such as climate variability and livestock adaptability among smallholder farmers, the water-energy-food security nexus, household food security, and wetland cultivation economics.
Professor Taruvinga has been appointed to the NRF Tier 2 Chair in Circular Economy: Leveraging smart technologies for sustainable ecologies, food security and climate resilience. He previously served as an associate professor at the same institution and has contributed to numerous research projects and publications in agricultural economics.
