About Ana Lúcia

Ana Lúcia Kassouf is Senior Professor in the Department of Economics, Administration and Sociology at the Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ), Universidade de São Paulo. She holds a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from ESALQ/USP (1988) and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota (1993). Her research focuses on labor economics, economics of education, child labor, social welfare economics, and the evaluation of social programs.

Throughout her career at USP, Kassouf has contributed to studies on the impacts of conditional cash transfer programs such as Bolsa Escola and Bolsa Família on school enrollment, dropout rates, and child labor in Brazil. She serves as a Research Fellow at the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) and has been recognized among leading scientists in her field, with more than 4,700 citations on Google Scholar. Key publications include analyses of child labor causes and consequences in Brazil and evaluations of public policies affecting education and employment outcomes.
