Anderson de Rezende Rocha is a Full Professor at the Institute of Computing of Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. He earned a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Lavras in 2003 and completed his M.Sc. in 2006, Ph.D. in 2009, and postdoctoral program in 2009 in Computer Science at UNICAMP, including a research period at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He obtained his Habilitation (Livre-Docência) in 2014 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2022. He serves as head of the Recod.ai Artificial Intelligence Lab and was Director of the Institute of Computing from 2019 to 2023.
His main academic specialty is Artificial Intelligence and Digital Forensics. Rocha’s research focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital forensics, and reasoning for complex data, including work on synthetic media detection, media integrity, and applications in health and industry. He is an elected affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Brazilian Academy of Forensic Sciences, as well as a member of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence. He has served multiple terms on the IEEE Information Forensics and Security Technical Committee, including as Chair. Rocha is an IEEE Fellow, Microsoft Research Faculty Fellow, Google Research Faculty Fellow, Tan Chin Tuan Faculty Fellow, and recipient of the Zeferino Vaz Award in 2025. He is a CNPq Productivity Fellow (PQ 1C), an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, and ranks among the top 2% most influential scientists worldwide according to Stanford/PLOS ONE and Research.com studies. He coordinates multiple research projects and holds licensed patents.
