About André

André Baptista Barcaui serves as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Administration at the Faculdade de Administração e Ciências Contábeis (FACC) of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He holds two post-doctorates, one in Administration from FEA/USP and one in Artificial Intelligence from UERJ, a PhD in Administration from Universidad Nacional de Rosario, a master’s degree in Management Systems from UFF-RJ, and undergraduate degrees in Information Technology and Psychology, along with training in cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Barcaui’s academic and professional work centers on project management, artificial intelligence applications, and related areas. He previously worked at IBM as Program and Services Manager and at Hewlett-Packard as Project Management Office lead for Latin America. He is a founding member of the PMI Rio Chapter and serves on its Advisory Board. In addition to his role at UFRJ, he has coordinated MBAs in Project Management and Information Technology at Fundação Getulio Vargas. His publications include the book PMO-Escritórios de Projetos, Programas e Portfólio na prática (2012) and the more recent Guia da Inteligência Artificial - do iniciante ao Nerd, along with peer-reviewed papers such as “Who is better in project planning? Generative artificial intelligence or project managers?” (2023) and “ChatGPT as a cognitive crutch: Evidence from a randomized controlled trial on knowledge retention” (2025). He has contributed to research on AI in education, financial fraud prevention, and emotional intelligence applications in organizational settings.
