About Andreas

Professor Andreas Obermair is a Professor of Gynaecological Oncology at the University of Queensland since 2007 and Director of the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer Research, which he established in 2003. He holds an Honorary Professorship at UQ since 2006 and serves as Senior Medical Officer at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital as well as Visiting Medical Officer at St Andrews War Memorial Hospital and Buderim Private Hospital. His qualifications include a Doctoral Diploma of Medicine from the International University Vienna and fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Professor Obermair leads research in clinical trials, translational research, quality of life studies, and minimally invasive surgery for gynaecological cancers. He received an NHMRC Investigator Fellowship Level 2 for 2021–2025 and Cancer Australia’s Jeannie Ferris Recognition Award in 2017. He co-founded and serves on the Board of the Cherish Foundation, which supports clinical research into improved treatments for women with gynaecological cancers.
