Dr Andrew Chen is a Research Fellow in the School of Agriculture and Food Sustainability at the University of Queensland. His research centres on plant pathology with a focus on banana genetics and genomics, including resistance mechanisms to Fusarium wilt and related fungal pathogens affecting banana and other crops.

He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications, including studies on genetic mapping and candidate gene identification for Fusarium wilt resistance in banana (2023), histological dissection of Fusarium-banana interactions (2024), de novo genome assemblies for Fusarium oxysporum isolates (2025), and assessments of host resistance variations (2019). Dr Chen collaborates on projects involving marker-assisted selection for resistant banana varieties and endophytic interactions.
