About Angela

Angela Kross is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment at Concordia University. She joined the university in August 2015 as a full-time faculty member in Remote Sensing and Geospatial Technologies. Prior to this appointment, she served as a postdoctoral researcher at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada from 2012 to 2015. Dr. Kross holds a Ph.D. in Physical Geography / Remote Sensing from McGill University, an M.Sc. in Geographic Information Science / Remote Sensing from Wageningen University and Research Centre in the Netherlands, and a B.Sc. in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil.

Her research focuses on the application of GIS and remote sensing technologies, combined with ground measurements and models, to investigate ecosystem processes, vegetation development, and land use change in response to anthropogenic and natural factors such as agricultural practices, mining activities, and climate change. She teaches courses including Introduction to Geographic Information Systems, Advanced Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and Advanced Quantitative Research Methods.
