Asad Mohsin served as Emeritus Professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the University of Waikato Management School. He completed a PhD at Charles Darwin University in Australia. Prior to his academic career, he spent nearly half his professional life in the hospitality industry, working as an Executive Chef and in Food and Beverage management roles. He joined the University of Waikato as a senior lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality Management in 2003 and later held positions including Convenor of Tourism and Hospitality Management and Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Community Engagement.
His research focused on empirical and applied topics in hotel and hospitality management, with interests in strategic management and international marketing within tourism and hospitality. Mohsin received the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) in the 2025 New Year Honours for services to the Muslim community. He served as President of the Waikato Multicultural Council and the Waikato Muslim Association, and facilitated a scholarship fund for Muslim students. He completed his doctoral studies under Professor Chris Ryan.
