About Augustin

Augustin Déplante is a Hydrographic Surveyor (CPHS2) at CSIRO based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. He earned a Bachelor of Surveying and Spatial Sciences from the University of Tasmania between 2014 and 2016, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Land Surveying from the same institution in 2017.

Déplante has contributed to multiple CSIRO marine and hydrographic projects. These include bathymetry data collection on voyages such as IN2024_V04 for the East Australian Current and IN2024_V01 for the Southern Ocean. He participated in high-resolution mapping of Lake St Clair in Tasmania, which confirmed the lake as Australia’s deepest with a maximum depth of approximately 150 metres using multibeam sonar and lidar technology.
