About Azzam

Prof. Azzam Mourad is a Visiting Professor of Computer Science at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, where he also serves as AI Advisor to the President. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University in Canada, an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Laval University in Canada, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Notre Dame University in Lebanon. His academic career includes appointments at Lebanese American University, where he is a Full Professor of Computer Science and founding director of the Artificial Intelligence Center, as well as affiliations with institutions such as ETS Montreal, Polytechnique Montreal, Concordia University, and Lebanese University.

Prof. Mourad has led numerous research and industrial projects and has published more than 160 research papers in top-tier international venues. His work focuses on cybersecurity, federated machine learning, applied artificial intelligence, and intelligent service, network, and computation optimization and management in emerging technologies, including the Internet of Things, cloud/fog/edge computing, and vehicular and mobile systems and networks. He appears on the World’s Top 2% Scientists List published by Stanford University and has received several research excellence awards along with major international, national, and local grants supporting his graduate students and research projects. He has graduated 33 students and currently supervises a team of 12 postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D., and M.Sc. students. He teaches courses such as Computer Systems Organization, Introduction to Computer Security, and Operating Systems.
