Rate My Professor Bassam Abu-Hijleh

Professor Bassam Abu-Hijleh serves as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & IT and holds the AtkinsRéalis Chair of the Sustainable Design of the Built Environment at the British University in Dubai. He earned a BSc, MSc, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University in the United States. His research focuses on experimental and simulation studies of solar energy, renewable and alternative energy sources, advanced energy production practices, and energy conservation and management. He has published more than 130 papers in international journals and conferences. Professor Abu-Hijleh maintains several professional certifications in energy and sustainability, including LEED AP, CEM, CEA, CMVP, PCF, CBCP, and CDSM.

He has taught a wide range of energy and sustainability courses at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels and has supervised more than 100 MSc dissertations and seven PhD theses.
