Bethany White is an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream in the Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Toronto. She holds a PhD in Statistics – Biostatistics and an MMath in Statistics – Biostatistics from the University of Waterloo, as well as a BScH in Mathematics and Statistics from Acadia University. Her research interests focus on the impact of technology-enhanced and simulation activities on student learning and attitudes toward statistics, along with pedagogical approaches to preparing students for quantitative work in the life sciences. She has contributed to the field through her involvement in statistics education, including service on committees of the Statistical Society of Canada and as part of the editorial team for the Journal of Statistics Education. White has also participated in organizing committees for statistics and science education workshops and conferences in Canada and the United States.
White has received recognition for her teaching excellence, including the Faculty of Arts and Science Outstanding Teaching Award and the 2025 SSC Distinguished Educator Award. Her scholarly work includes the 2018 publication Scientific Data Analysis with R, co-authored with J. Waugh. She maintains interests in biostatistics and the integration of statistics training within life sciences curricula.
