Betty Maepa is an Associate Professor in the Antiviral Gene Therapy Research Unit at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a BSc, BScHons, MSc and PhD, all awarded by the University of the Witwatersrand. Her doctoral research, completed in 2009, involved the characterisation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis ribonucleotide reductase genes as potential targets for novel anti-tuberculosis drugs.
