About Bruno

Bruno Geloneze Neto is a Full Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He earned his medical degree from UNICAMP in 1987, completed a residency in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the same institution, and obtained his PhD in Clinical Medicine from UNICAMP in 2001. In 2017, he achieved the Livre-Docência in Endocrinology and Metabology at UNICAMP. He serves as coordinator of the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Laboratory (LIMED) at UNICAMP and as a principal investigator at the Obesity and Comorbidities Research Center (OCRC-CEPID). He is also an associate researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology in Obesity and Diabetes and coordinates the Brazilian Study on Metabolic Syndrome (BRAMS). His academic work focuses on diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, bariatric and metabolic surgery, and cardiovascular endocrinology. He holds a Research Productivity Fellowship (PQ 1D) and is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Obesity Surgery. He collaborates on research with multiple Brazilian and international universities.

Throughout his career at UNICAMP, Geloneze Neto has contributed to advancing understanding of metabolic diseases through clinical, experimental, epidemiological, and pharmacological studies. His leadership roles include heading key research initiatives on obesity and diabetes comorbidities, supporting the training of postgraduate students in related fields within the Faculty of Medical Sciences. His extensive publication record and high citation impact reflect significant influence in endocrinology and metabolism research in Brazil and beyond.
