Camila A. Sakaguchi Olson, Ph.D., serves as Research Manager of the Human Performance Laboratory in the Department of Biology at Appalachian State University’s North Carolina Research Campus. She earned her doctorate in Physical Therapy from the Federal University of São Carlos in Brazil, with a focus in the cardiopulmonary field; her doctoral research examined the effects of respiratory training using metabolomics-based analysis.

Dr. Olson has authored more than twenty peer-reviewed articles in high-impact scientific journals. In 2018, she received a prestigious international government scholarship that supported her work as a doctoral intern and short-term scholar at the Human Performance Laboratory at Appalachian State University. After completing her Ph.D. and clinical work in Brazil, she was appointed to her current position. Her research centers on nutritional strategies to enhance human performance and aid resolution of post-exercise inflammation and oxidative stress through integrated multi-omics approaches.
