About Christina

Christina Stringer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and International Business at the University of Auckland Business School, within the Faculty of Business and Economics. She serves as Director of the Centre for Research on Modern Slavery. Her research focuses on migrant worker exploitation and modern slavery, including investigations into the exploitation of temporary migrant workers in New Zealand and forced labour on foreign-chartered fishing vessels operating in New Zealand waters. She has undertaken projects for New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and contributed to reports for the Human Trafficking Research Coalition.

Stringer has authored or co-authored numerous publications on topics such as global value chains, worker exploitation in New Zealand, and modern slavery. Her work has informed public discourse and policy discussions, including advocacy for a Modern Slavery Act in New Zealand. She holds the position of Associate Professor and has been affiliated with the University of Auckland since at least the early 2000s, contributing to academic research, teaching, and engagement in international business and related fields.
