Chwee Teck Lim is the NUS Society (NUSS) Chair Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) College of Design and Engineering. He serves as Director of the Institute for Health Innovation and Technology (iHealthtech) at NUS and is the Founding Director of the Singapore Health Technologies Consortium (HealthTEC). Lim earned a BEng with First Class Honours from NUS and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on human disease mechanobiology, microfluidic biomedical technologies, and wearable sensing technologies for health monitoring and therapy.
Lim heads the MechanoBioEngineering Laboratory at NUS and has authored or co-authored more than 500 peer-reviewed journal publications, including articles in Nature, Nature Materials, and Nature Physics. He has founded or co-founded six start-up companies based on his research innovations, one of which has been publicly listed, and developed technologies such as a cancer-detecting biochip for capturing circulating tumour cells. Lim has received numerous honours, including election as a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS), International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and Fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors (FNAI), among others. He is also a recipient of awards such as the Asia’s Most Influential Scientist Award.
