About Clement

Clement Zheng is an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) and Presidential Young Professor in the Division of Industrial Design at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He serves as Principal Investigator of the Interactive Materials Lab and holds a joint appointment with the NUS CUTE Center. His work centers on physical computing, tangible interactions, computational design, and making cultures, with a focus on alternative material approaches for interactive systems. He publishes in the field of human-computer interaction, often presenting findings through new tools and approaches for building interactive systems.

Zheng earned his PhD from the ATLAS Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. He previously held positions connected to Georgia Institute of Technology. At NUS, his appointments include the Presidential Young Professorship effective January 2025. Key publications include Crafting Interactive Circuits on Glazed Ceramic Ware (CHI 2023), Shape Haptics: Planar and Passive Force Feedback Mechanisms for Physical Interfaces (CHI 2022), Tangible Interfaces with Printed Paper Markers (DIS 2020, Honorable Mention), and Sensing Kirigami (DIS 2019, Best Pictorial). His research has explored topics such as conductive ceramics for controlling sound and sensing moisture.
