Corrin (Gillis) Allen, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, serves as Associate Professor in the School of Speech-Language Pathology within the Ellmer College of Health Sciences at Old Dominion University. She is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist. Dr. Allen earned her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. Her research and professional work focus on topics related to preschoolers who stutter and preschoolers with hearing loss. She has authored or co-authored 21 peer-reviewed articles, 5 invited book chapters, and delivered numerous national and international presentations in these areas.
Dr. Allen has held leadership roles including service on the Coordinating Committee of ASHA’s SIG 4: Fluency and Fluency Disorders, where she acted as Editor of Perspectives and Professional Development Manager from 2018 to 2023. Since 2012, she has worked to implement interprofessional education and practice aimed at reducing health disparities. She was appointed Director of Interprofessional Healthcare Practice, Education, and Research (I-hear) at Old Dominion University to advance interprofessional efforts addressing health disparities across the institution. Dr. Allen currently serves as Chair of the Faculty Senate at Old Dominion University.
