Dr. Curtis Langlotz is Professor of Radiology, Medicine, and Biomedical Data Science and Senior Associate Vice Provost for Research at Stanford University. He serves as Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging (AIMI Center) and Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. His laboratory develops machine learning methods, including deep neural networks, to detect disease and reduce diagnostic errors through analysis of medical images and clinical notes. Dr. Langlotz received his AB in Human Biology, MS in Computer Science with a focus on artificial intelligence, MD, and PhD in Medical Information Sciences, all from Stanford University. He completed his residency in radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
He has authored over 200 scholarly articles and the book “The Radiology Report: A Guide to Thoughtful Communication for Radiologists and Other Medical Professionals.” Dr. Langlotz has led national efforts to improve radiology communication standards, including the RadLex terminology and report template library. He previously served as Associate Chair for Information Systems in the Department of Radiology and Medical Informatics Director for Stanford Health Care. His leadership roles include President of the Radiological Society of North America (2024–2025), past president of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, and founder and past president of the Radiology Alliance for Health Services Research. Awards include the Lee B. Lusted Research Prize and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Radiology Alliance for Health Services Research. He founded Montage Healthcare Solutions, acquired by Nuance Communications in 2016.
