Professor Dale Andrew Fisher is a Professor of Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. An Australian infectious diseases physician, he completed his MBBS at the University of Tasmania and specialist training in Infectious Diseases through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1992. He joined the National University Hospital in Singapore in March 2003 during the SARS outbreak and has served as Senior Consultant in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine. In 2020, he was appointed Group Chief of Medicine at National University Health System. He also directs the NUS Centre for Infectious Disease Emergency Response and has chaired the National Infection Prevention and Control Committee at the Ministry of Health, Singapore, since 2013.
His research focuses on outbreaks, infection prevention and control, and infectious diseases, with particular contributions to responses for SARS, MRSA control, and COVID-19. He participated in the WHO-China Joint Mission on COVID-19 and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on these topics, as well as the book Infectious Disease Emergencies: Preparedness and Response. In 2013, he and colleagues received the National Clinical Excellence Team Award for reducing MRSA infection rates. Professor Fisher is highly cited, with over 15,000 citations on Google Scholar for his work in these areas.
