Daniela Finco is an associate professor in the Department of Education at the Escola de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas (EFLCH) of Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Campus Guarulhos. She also teaches in the Graduate Program in Education (PPGE-EFLCH) at UNIFESP. She holds a bachelor's degree in Pedagogy from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) awarded in 2000, a master's degree in Education in the area of Education, Society, Politics and Culture from Unicamp awarded in 2004, and a doctorate in Education in the area of Sociology of Education from the Faculdade de Educação at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) awarded in 2010. Her doctoral thesis examined early childhood education, spaces of confrontation, and coexistence with differences through analysis of interactions between teachers and girls and boys who transgress gender boundaries. She completed a doctoral internship at the Instituto de Estudos da Criança at the Universidade do Minho in Portugal in 2009. She undertook postdoctoral research and served as a visiting professor in the Dipartimento di Scienze Umane per la Formazione at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca in Italy, and was a visiting researcher in the Dipartimento di Scienze della Formazione at the Università degli Studi di Genova in Italy.
Professor Finco leads the Research Group on Gender, Early Childhood Education, Culture and Society at UNIFESP and is a member of the Group for Gender Studies, Education and Sexual Culture (Edges) at USP. Her academic work centers on gender studies, feminist theories, human rights, public policies, early childhood education, sociology of childhood, and teacher training. She previously coordinated the Graduate Course on Gender and Diversity in School (GDE) at UNIFESP. Her publications include articles and chapters on topics such as gender relations in children's play in preschool settings, anti-sexist early childhood education, feminist contributions to critical pedagogy, and representations of Black girls in children's literature. She maintains an active research profile with numerous citations in her areas of expertise.
