David Paulo Succi Junior is a Professor Titular de Relações Internacionais at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). He holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations from UNESP, Franca campus. He earned his master's and doctoral degrees in International Relations from the San Tiago Dantas Graduate Program (UNESP-UNICAMP-PUC/SP), with a concentration in Peace, Defense, and International Security. His doctoral thesis received the 2023 CAPES Thesis Prize in the area of Political Science and International Relations.
Succi Junior has served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Public Policies and International Relations (IPPRI) at UNESP, with funding from FAPESP. He has been a visiting fellow at the European University Institute and a visiting researcher at the University of Ottawa's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. He previously held substitute professor positions at UNESP Franca and the Federal University of Sergipe. His research focuses on the legitimation of the use of force, domestic military operations in Brazil, civil-military relations, and related topics in international security. He is affiliated with research groups including GEDES and GECEF. Key publications include articles in journals such as Armed Forces & Society, Globalizations, and Defence Studies, addressing themes like Brazilian foreign policy, military roles in public security, and normative discourses on violence.
