About Dean

Dean Ho is Provost's Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the College of Design and Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He also serves as Professor of Pharmacology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Director of the N.1 Institute for Health, and Director of the Institute for Digital Medicine (WisDM). Prior to his appointments at NUS, Ho was a professor at UCLA and an associate professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University, where he was also a full member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Feinberg School of Medicine.

Ho earned a BSc in Physiological Sciences in 2001 and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2003, both from UCLA. His research focuses on nanomedicine, including nanodiamond platforms for drug delivery in cancer therapy and wound healing, as well as artificial intelligence applications in personalized and precision medicine through the CURATE.AI platform. He has led multiple clinical trials validating these technologies for N-of-1 medicine, digital therapeutics, and regimen optimization. Ho is an elected Fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening. He has received the NSF CAREER Award, the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation Translational Research Award, and other honors. Ho previously served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Laboratory Automation (now SLAS Technology) and as President of the Board of Directors of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening. His work has been featured in outlets including The Economist, Forbes, Nature, CNN, and NPR.
