Dr. Dianne Miller is an associate professor emerita in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia. She holds an MD from UBC (1980) and a BSc in Microbiology and Immunology from UBC. Following her MD, she completed an internship at Toronto Western Hospital and worked as a family physician in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, for two and a half years. In 1988, she obtained Royal College certification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UBC, followed by a Royal College Fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology at the University of Toronto in 1990, supported by a McLaughlin Fellowship.
Dr. Miller has served as Division Head of Gynaecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UBC and as a gynaecologic oncologist at Vancouver General Hospital and the BC Cancer Agency. She was Provincial Gynaecology Tumor Group Chair for the BC Cancer Agency and a member of the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute. In 2000, she co-founded OVCARE, a multidisciplinary ovarian cancer research team in British Columbia. Her work has focused on clinical trials, translational research, and prevention strategies, including the development of opportunistic salpingectomy, which has been shown to significantly reduce ovarian cancer risk.
