Dominic Stratford is an Associate Professor in the School of Geography, Archaeology and Environmental Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand. He holds a BScHons, MSc and PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand, with the doctorate awarded in 2011. His research focuses on geoarchaeology, palaeoanthropology, archaeology and human evolution. Stratford serves as Research Coordinator at Sterkfontein Caves.
He has contributed to research on archaeological sites in southern Africa, including work on ancient lake environments in the Namib Sand Sea and studies involving Australopithecus fossils such as the Little Foot skeleton. Stratford is also involved in postgraduate coordination within his school.
