About Edna

Edna Martins is an associate professor at Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Campus Guarulhos, where she teaches in the undergraduate Pedagogy program and the graduate Program in Education. She holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP, 1993), a master's degree in Educational Psychology from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP, 1998), and a doctorate in Education with a focus on Educational Psychology from PUC-SP (2003). Martins coordinates the Laboratório de Estudos e Pesquisas em Psicologia Histórico-Cultural (LAPSIHC) and serves as vice-director of the Escola de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas (EFLCH) at UNIFESP for the 2025-2029 term.

Her research specializes in Educational Psychology from a historical-cultural perspective, with primary interests in teacher training, educational practices, family dynamics, school inclusion, and ethnic-racial relations. She has contributed to numerous publications and projects addressing topics such as racial quotas in higher education, family support in schooling, and inclusive pedagogical mediation. Martins is actively involved in graduate supervision and collaborative research initiatives within the field of education.
