Rate My Professor Elcio Oliveira Vianna

Elcio Oliveira Vianna is Professor Titular in the Departamento de Clínica Médica at the Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo (FMRP-USP). He earned his medical degree from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo in 1986 and his doctorate in Medicine with a focus on Pneumologia from the same institution in 1993. He completed postdoctoral training abroad and obtained the title of livre-docente from the Departamento de Clínica Médica at FMRP-USP in 2006. His primary research interests include bronchial asthma, respiratory cytology, and pulmonary function, with additional work on occupational asthma, bronchial inflammation, and respiratory diseases.

Vianna has contributed to studies examining induced sputum techniques, asthma self-management, and the effects of obesity and systemic inflammation on lung function and aging. He serves as a researcher associated with the Centro de Pesquisa em Doenças Inflamatórias (CRID) at FMRP-USP and participates in graduate program coordination and clinical activities in the Division of Pneumologia. His work appears in peer-reviewed publications in the field of respiratory medicine, and he maintains an active role in academic and research activities at the university.
