Dr Erin Kelty is a Senior Research Fellow and Stan Perron Charitable Foundation Fellow at the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Western Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Western Australia, as well as a Master of Biostatistics from the University of Sydney. Her research focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, medication safety in pregnancy, substance use disorders, data linkage, and maternal and child health. Dr Kelty has extensive experience in the analysis of linked health data and has served as an investigator on 16 successful grant applications totaling $8.5 million in national and international funding.
She has produced a substantial body of peer-reviewed research output, including 83 articles, 12 review articles, and additional abstracts and other contributions. Recent publications address topics such as changes in antibiotic dispensing to Australian children, Australian polypharmacy trends, and the safety of mental health pharmacotherapies in pregnancy. Dr Kelty contributes to projects examining extreme heat and pregnancy complications, consumer-initiated medicines reviews, and the lasting impact of family and domestic violence on neonatal health outcomes. Her work supports evidence-based improvements in health policy and practice related to medication use and public health.
