Fabrizio Marcondes Machado serves as Associate Researcher and Visiting Specialist Professor at the Institute of Biology of Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). He is a zoologist whose primary research focuses on the systematics of molluscs, with particular emphasis on bivalves. His work centers on expanding taxonomic, morphological, and anatomical knowledge of bivalve groups, especially the Anomalodesmata. Machado earned his doctorate from UNICAMP in 2018 with a thesis titled “Desvendando a diversidade dos Anomalodesmata (Mollusca: Bivalvia): uma abordagem morfológica e filogenética,” completed under the supervision of Professor Flávio Dias Passos.

His publications include studies on the functional morphology of carnivorous bivalves such as Cardiomya cleryana and Grippina coronata, the use of micro-computed tomography for anatomical investigations of bivalves, and reviews of predatory marine bivalves and watering-pot shells. He has contributed to collaborative efforts documenting Brazilian mollusc diversity and participated in the international Ocean Species Discoveries consortium. Machado has also co-authored work proposing revisions to the nomenclature associated with molluscum contagiosum.
