Fernando Ramos Martins is an Associate Professor at Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Campus Baixada Santista, affiliated with the Instituto do Mar and the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Science and Technology of the Sea. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the Instituto de Física at Universidade de São Paulo, a Master’s degree in Nuclear Technology, and a Doctorate in Spatial Geophysics from the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE). He completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Maryland and INPE. His research centers on energy meteorology, the assessment of renewable energy resources including solar and wind energy, remote sensing of the atmosphere, and the impacts of climate change on energy systems.
Martins is a co-author of the Atlas Brasileiro de Energia Solar and has authored or co-authored 89 scientific articles, achieving an h-index of 30 according to Google Scholar. He is a recipient of a CNPq Productivity in Research scholarship at level 1D. His work includes leadership of projects on offshore wind energy, hybrid photovoltaic-hydroelectric systems, and solar resources in South America, supported by agencies such as CNPq and partnerships including Equinor and INPE. He has supervised more than 18 master’s and doctoral researchers who have gone on to positions in academia and industry. Martins maintains an active affiliation with INPE and contributes to international efforts in climate-resilient energy planning.
