Frank Weinberg, MD, PhD, serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He is a physician-researcher at the University of Illinois Cancer Center and a medical oncologist at UI Health, where he leads the thoracic oncology program and specializes in the care of patients with lung cancer. In his clinical practice, Dr. Weinberg focuses on providing individualized care through a shared decision-making approach involving patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, incorporating the latest scientific research and approved medications.

Dr. Weinberg earned his MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and his PhD from Northwestern University. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Michigan. His research centers on translational oncology with an emphasis on lung cancer, immunotherapy outcomes, cancer biology, metabolism, the microbiome, and tumor microenvironments.
