Gary Schwartz served as Professor in the Department of Languages and Literatures at Lehman College, City University of New York. He held the positions of Director of the Macaulay Honors College at Lehman College and Director of the Lehman Scholars Program. Schwartz earned a B.A. from Columbia College. He was the longest-serving member of Macaulay Honors College, having directed the Lehman campus program since its founding. Over a career spanning 52 years at CUNY, Schwartz retired in 2021 as Professor Emeritus. He previously served as Interim Dean of Academic Affairs for Macaulay Honors College and contributed to the launch of the Bridge Scholars Program for community college students. Schwartz has been recognized for his dedication to student advising and guidance, supporting students in identifying their academic and professional paths.
